The story behind Two Macaws

Where the Journey Began

It started with a love for wandering. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the colors, textures, and traditions of different places. Traveling through markets in India, watching artisans in Peru carve by hand, or feeling the rhythm of daily life in Mexico — I was always captivated by the way objects carried more than just beauty. They carried stories.

The kind of stories that linger in your home long after the trip is over. The kind of stories that remind you of people, of places, of a moment where time slowed down.

When I dreamed of creating Two Macaws, it wasn’t just about opening a shop. It was about creating a space where those stories could live on — a place in Winnipeg where people could discover treasures from around the world, each one carrying the spirit of the hands that made it.

Why It Matters to Me

In a world full of mass production and “fast everything,” I wanted something different. I wanted to support the weaver in Jaipur who learned her craft from her grandmother. The silversmith in Oaxaca who hammers each detail by hand. The candle maker who pours not just wax, but intention, into every creation.

Every product at Two Macaws isn’t just chosen — it’s felt. It’s connected to a story, a culture, a memory.

Bringing the World Home

Though my travels have taken me far, my roots are here in Winnipeg. Two Macaws was born from the desire to bring that global spirit home. Walking into our shop in the Exchange District is meant to feel like stepping into a tropical escape, where each corner holds something new to discover whether its a journal waiting for your words, a bowl that becomes part of your meals, a crystal that reminds you to breathe deeper.

These are not just objects. They are pieces of life, chosen with intention, meant to stay with you.

An Invitation

Two Macaws is more than a store. It’s a journey — one that begins with the artisans, passes through my hands, and ends with you, the person who gives each piece a new life in your home.

This is only the first chapter of our story. In the months ahead, I’ll be sharing more - about the artisans behind our collections, the cultures that inspire us, and little ways to weave more conscious living into your everyday rituals.

For now, I invite you to come wander, to discover, and maybe even to bring home a story of your own.
